Tea estate workers hold a significant position in Assam, India. This study examines the socio-economic aspects of living and working conditions of workers, in the tea gardens of Sivasagar district, Assam. 50 women who work in tea plantations formed the sample. Findings revealed that the more than half of the women workers generate a monthly income of Rs. 5001 to Rs.7000 and due to low income, workers find difficulty to cover their daily expenditure. It was also found that the women workers at the tea plantations have poor working conditions such as forced labour, continuous work-load without rest and health issues.References
